Golden Isles Arts and Humanities’ February First Friday event Feb. 3 will be centered around The Big Read. The book this year is Ursula K. LeGuin’s “A Wizard of Earthsea.” The First Friday event, which begins at 5 p.m. at the Ritz Theatre, 1530 Newcastle St., Brunswick, will include a proclamation from the city, an exhibit of original art by students in kindergarten through 12th grade called “Dragons and Other Fantastical Creatures” and a “Parade of Dragons and Other Fantastical Creatures.” The parade will originate at G and Newcastle streets and proceed south to the the Brunswick-Glynn County Library and return to the Ritz. Group and individual prizes, created by Color Me Happy, will be awarded. In addition, participating businesses will be a part of the “Journey Through Earthsea,” where parade participants will finding the true names of items entered into the library’s new online program, Beanstack, for a chance to win other prizes.
