A standard flower show sponsored by the clubs in the Glynn County Garden Club Council – Blythe Island Garden Club, Magnolia Garden Club and Urbana Garden Club – in conjunction with the annual Exchange Club Fair, will be held Oct. 26-29 at the Exchange Club Fairgrounds. The show will be open to the public.

Flower show chairman Sherle Beck, and co-chairmen LuAnn Whalen and Carol Smith, stated that the show will be judged by nationally accredited flower show judges and that the title, “Seashore Fantasy,” will bring memories of walking on sandy beaches, where shells can be found on the beach and dolphins, splashing in the water, can be seen from the seashore.

The show will include 20 creative floral designs and quality horticulture specimens displayed for attendees to see. Two educational exhibits will enlighten — an exhibit on the environmental protection of aquatic plants and an exhibit on the Georgia Sea Turtle Center on Jekyll Island, where injured turtles are cared for and released.

It is important to note that horticulture entries must be entered between 4 and 6 p.m. Oct. 25, with the exception of perishable blooms (Sections A-C annuals, perennials and bulb types), which may be entered between 8:30 a.m. and 10 a.m. Oct. 26. Sections D-G (decorative foliage, trees, shrubs and container grown) must be entered on Oct. 25. Exhibit entries for all divisions must be removed from the showroom between 2 and 2:30 p.m. Oct. 30.

Youth clubs will enter in designs section — creative small designs and plaques and horticulture specimens in the youth division. Both adults and youth clubs members have worked diligently to make this an outstanding, fun and educational affair. Everyone is invited to come, visit, and enjoy the magic of the seashore.
