• “Holidays in History” tours of the cottages in the Jekyll Island Historic District will be available at 11 a.m. and 1 and 3 p.m. except for Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. Cost is $16 for adults, $7 for children ages 7 – 15 and free for children 6 and younger. Details: 635-4036.

• “Christmas Twilight” tours will be held at 4 p.m. daily except for Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. The event concludes at Indian Mound Cottage with music and light refreshments. Through Jan. 8

• Jekyll Island Skating Village will be open from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Dec. 2-4, 9-11, 16-18, 23, 24 and 26-31, and from 3-9 p.m. Dec. 1, Dec. 5-8, 12-15 and 19-22 and from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Jan. 1 and 6-8, and 3-9 p.m. Jan. 2-5. Cost is $5 per person and includes skate rental and a 30-minute skating session. Concessions are available on-site. Santa will visit on Dec. 3 and 10.

Through Jan. 14

• Nativity exhibit may be seen from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Mondays through Fridays at Moore Methodist Museum, Epworth by the Sea, St. Simons Island.

Dec. 2

• Cannon’s Point History Tour, sponsored by the Coastal Georgia Historical Society, will begin at 9:30 a.m. at A.W. Jones Heritage Center, 610 Beachview Drive, St. Simons Island. Groups will depart for Cannon’s Point at 10 a.m. and will return to the Heritage Center at 12:30 p.m. Cost: $75 per person. Pre-registration is required. Details: 634-7090.

• First Friday will be from 5:30 to 8 p.m. in the shops, restaurants and galleries along Newcastle Street in Brunswick. Enjoy exhibit openings, samples and live entertainment.

• “Mickey’s Christmas Carol,” will be shown beginning at 6 p.m. as part of “Santa Cinema” sponsored by the Glynn County Recreation and Parks Department. The movie will be shown every 30 minutes. The event will also feature visits with Santa, hot chocolate and cookies. Admission is $3 per person.

Dec. 2 and 3

• The 36th Annual Hofwyl Plantation Christmas will be from 6-9 p.m. both days at the site, 5556 U.S. Highway 17, Brunswick. See how Christmas was celebrated on a Southern rice plantation during the 1850s. The event will feature candlelit strolls on the old carriage road, and candlelit tours of the antebellum house, hot wassail and cookies, Civil War re-enactors, Christmas carols and an appearance by Santa. Cannon and rifle demonstrations will occur intermittently both evenings. Admission is $10 for adults and seniors and $5 for youth ages 6 — 17.

Dec. 3 and 10

• “Santa Express” will depart at 10 a.m., noon, 2 p.m. and 4 p.m., to take passengers to Santa Land. The Santa Express departs Theatre by Trax at 1000 Osborne St., St. Marys. Each ride lasts about 90 minutes and takes guests through scenic woodlands and marshlands to Santa Village where it makes the turnaround. Tickets are $20 for adults and $14 for children. Dec. 3

• “Polar Express” and “How the Grinch Stole Christmas” will be shown at 9 a.m. at Island Cinemas 7, 44 Cinema Lane, St. Simons Island, as part of the “Merry Movies” series sponsored by the American Cancer Society Victory Board. Children are welcome to attend in the pajamas. Santa will be on hand for photos. Admission is $10 per person.

• “Christmas at the Cabins,” hosted by the Cassina Garden Club, will be from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Hamilton Plantation Historic Tabby Cabins on Gascoigne Bluff, St. Simons Island. The event will feature the “best bake sale in the Southeast,” and attendees will be able to view the progress on the cabins’ restoration.

• Ophelia’s Classic Car Challenge will be from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Hofwyl Broadfield Plantation, 5556 U.S. Highway 17, Brunswick. Classic cars from all over Southeast Georgia will be entered in the third annual show. Presented by Friends of Hofwyl and the Classic Coastal Cruisers automobile club. Cars may be entered for $20 each. Admission to the show is $8 for adults, $7 for seniors and $5 for youth.

• Magnolia Garden Club Christmas Tour of Homes will be from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in Historic Brunswick. Tour Victorian homes and gardens decorated for the holidays, and visit the bake sale at Advent Christian Church, 1812 Ellis St., where the tour begins. Tickets are $25 in advance and $30 the day of the tour and can be purchased at Color Me Happy and Merle Norman Cosmetics, both in Brunswick, and Carlyle Chiropractic Clinic, G.J. Ford Book Shop and Beachview Books, all on St. Simons Island.

• “Home for the Holidays” pet adoption will be from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Island Animal Hospital, 2603 Demere Road, St. Simons Island. The event is co-hosted by Island Animal Hospital and Glynn County Animal Control, and will feature refreshments and a raffle. Details: 638-2583.

• Brunswick Christmas Parade will begin at 5:30 p.m. at Howard Coffin Park and proceed the length of Gloucester Street to Mary Ross Waterfront Park. Santa Claus will make an entrance at the end of the parade. • Christmas Boat Parade of Lights, sponsored by the Golden Isles Sailing Club, will begin at 6 p.m. at Brunswick Landing Marina, next to Mary Ross Waterfront Park, and proceed to the Sidney Lanier Bridge and back.

• “Merry Mixer,” a fundraiser for the Boys and Girls Club of Southeast Georgia, will begin at 6 p.m. in the courtyard at Halyards/Tramici on St. Simons Island. The event will feature championship football games, food, and entertainment by the Sounds of Motown. Cost is $125 per person. For details: 265-1455.

Dec. 3 — 4

• Mistletoe Market, sponsored by Glynn Visual Arts, will be from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. both days in Postell Park in the St. Simons Pier Village. The event will feature handmade goods, Santa, food, live music, kids’ activities and the second annual Holiday Hound Hike.

• “In the Kitchen,” a new play by local playwright Mary Miller and the winner of the 2016 John Gassner Memorial Playwriting Award, will be performed at 8 p.m. Saturdays and 3 p.m. Sundays through Dec. 18. • ”Countdown to Christmas,” a fall concert presented by The Brunswick High School Production Company featuring its choral and dance departments, will be performed at 7 p.m. in the Brunswick High School Auditorium, 3885 Altama Avenue, Brunswick. • ”Shrek the Musical” will be performed by the Glynn Academy Players at 7:30 p.m. today, Friday and Saturday in the Glynn Academy Memorial Auditorium, 1001 Mansfield St., Brunswick. Tickets are $12 for adults and $10 for children, and will be available at the door.

• Handel’s “Messiah,” performed by the Community Messiah Chorus, will be presented at 3 p.m. today and 8 p.m. Sunday at Wesley United Methodist Church at Frederica, 6520 Frederica Road, St. Simons Island. Free, but contributions appreciated.
