Zion Rock Missionary Baptist Church, 3200 Gordon St., will celebrate the 24th anniversary of Pastor James C. Edwards and Lady Rebecca Edwards with a black-tie event at 4:30 p.m. May 7 at Comfort Inn I-95 North.

Epworth by the Sea, 100 Arthur J. Moore Drive, St. Simons Island, will host retired Methodist minister and Wesley Scholar, the Rev. Dave Hanson’s program, “Walk With Wesley” from 2 to 3 p.m. Thursdays in the Moore Methodist Museum. Hanson will take an in-depth look at the lives of John and Charles Wesley while they were on St. Simons Island in 1736. Free to the public.

First African Baptist Church, 1416 Amherst St., Brunswick, will celebrate its annual homecoming at 11 a.m. April 23. The guest speaker will be Pastor Tommy Benton of First United Christian Church of Brunswick. Refreshments will be served following the service.

Grace Baptist Church will hold an Easter sunrise service at 7 a.m. Sunday at Sidney Lanier Park, at the base of the Sidney Lanier Bridge, in Brunswick. Guests are asked to bring a chair.

Greater Hall Temple Church of God in Christ, 3226 Nowich St., Brunswick, will hold a Resurrection service at 6 a.m. Sunday, followed by a youth program at 10 a.m. and morning worship immediately after.

Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church, 916 Pennick Road, Brunswick, will celebrate Deacon and Deaconess Day at 3:30 p.m. April 23. The guests will be evangelist Pastor Michael Holmes and his church, Enterprise Baptist Church, of Woodbine. The church will also celebrate Usher Day at 3 p.m. April 30. The guest church will be Resurrection Christian Baptist Church of Jesup, and the guest speaker will be the Rev. Joyce Moore.

New Day Christian Fellowship, 6041 New Jesup Highway, Brunswick, will host an Easter Egg hunt at 11 a.m. today. An Easter worship service will be held at 7:30 a.m. Sunday, followed by a 9 a.m. breakfast. No evening service will be held.

St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, 1120 Newcastle St., Brunswick, hosts its nondenominational crafters guild from 6-9 p.m. Tuesdays in the St. Joseph Room in the church parish hall. No fees. Everyone is welcome. All types of crafts and ideas area shared. The guild provides hats for preemies and cancer patients, along with leg warmers and lap rugs for nursing homes. Details: 265-6816.

Salem St. John Missionary Baptist Church, 3840 Old Jesup Road, Brunswick, will celebrate Family and Friends Day at 11 a.m. April 23. The guests will be Bethel Freewill Baptist Church of Decatur and the Rev. Victor Speakman.

Smallest Church in America, at the intersection of U.S. Highway 17 and Harris Neck Road in McIntosh County, will hold a rededication of the church beginning with lunch at noon, and followed by a 1 p.m. dedication service. Sterling Church of God, 6670 New Jesup Highway, Brunswick, will host a free clothing giveaway sponsored by its Helping Hands Ministry, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesdays.

Music

First African Baptist Church, Sapelo Island, will host a gospel sing April 22 featuring The Bright Stars of Brunswick. The ferry will depart the Meridian Dock at 9 a.m. and return at 1 p.m.

Fort Frederica Presbyterian Church, 6540 Frederica Road, St. Simons Island, will host The Whitefield Academy Jazz Band in concert at 7:30 p.m. April 22. The performance will be dedicated to the late Joe Justin Walters, who was a former music director at the church. A reception will follow. The group of high school students will perform a program primarily of Big Band music. Free.

Greater Hall Temple Church of God in Christ, 3226 Norwich St., Brunswick, will host a gospel sing featuring J’Mael and The Church Boyz at 7 p.m. Sunday.

Wesley United Methodist Church at Frederica, 6520 Frederica Road, St. Simons Island, will host the University of North Florida Chamber Singers, under the direction of Cara Tasher, at 5 p.m. April 30. The a cappella choir will present a variety of choral repertoire, including “The Requiem” by 20th century English composer Herbert Howells. Free.
