Abysinia Baptist Church, 2501 Albany St., Brunswick, will hold its men’s day service at 11 a.m. Sunday. The guest speaker will be Deacon William Cash, and the Bright Stars Male Chorus will provide the music.

Bright Star Baptist Church, 256 Sweet Gum Drive, Brunswick, will host its children’s Bible read program from 6 to 7 p.m. every Wednesday for students in kindergarten through fifth grade. Dinner will be served. Call 262-1855 or 269-2030 for more information.

Episcopal Diocese of Georgia and its Creation Care Commission, along with St. Andrew’s and St. Cyprian’s Episcopal churches in Darien, will hold a “creek retreat” called “Down to the River to Pray,” beginning at 1 p.m. today. The cost is $35 and includes kayaks/canoes, life jackets and shuttle service and a guide. An optional communion and potluck supper will follow. The trip will consist of an out and back paddling along Cathead Creek to the Buffalo Swamp Natural Area and along irrigation canals by abandoned rice fields. Epworth by the Sea, 100 Arthur J. Moore Drive, St. Simons Island, will host retired Methodist minister and Wesley Scholar, the Rev. Dave Hanson’s program, “Walk With Wesley” from 2 to 3 p.m. Thursdays in the Moore Methodist Museum. Hanson will take an in-depth look at the lives of John and Charles Wesley while they were on St. Simons Island in 1736. Free to the public.

First Bryant Baptist Church, 1100 F St., Brunswick, will hold its 13th Women of Excellence Conference beginning at 9 a.m. March 25. Registration will be at 8:30 a.m., and a $15 donation is requested. The speakers will be Tracie Campbell, Vivian Spaulding, evangelist, and the Rev. Brenda Iglehart, all of Brunswick. The church will hold its annual women’s day service at 11 a.m. March 26. Fanitra Bradley of Douglasville will be the guest speaker.

First Friendship Baptist Church, 1010 Lee St., Brunswick, will celebrate its annual homecoming at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday with Bethel Baptist Church as the guests, and culminating at 11 a.m. March 26. Brunswick native and former member Cynthia Hillery-Jackson of Greater Piney Grove Baptist Church in Atlanta will be the guest speaker.

First Jordan Grove Missionary Baptist Church, 2004 Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd., Brunswick, will have a mission workshop titled “If We Live in the Spirit, Let Us Also Walk in the Spirit,” at 9 a.m. April 1. The speakers will be ministers Glenn Williams, Barbara Brockman and Cheryl Knight. Other guests will include The Gospel Resurrections and Pastor John Fields.

Greater Hall Temple Church of God in Christ, 3226 Norwich St., Brunswick, will host “Sunday Morning Live” at 11:30 a.m. Sunday. At its 6:30 p.m. service Sunday, the program will be “This is My Journey,” which will highlight the tests and trials many people have overcome. The guest speaker for the evening service will be the Rev. Donte Habersham, owner of Shuck’s Seafood and Back Porch.

Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church, 3425 Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd., Brunswick will host a homecoming service at 11:30 a.m. Sunday. The guest speaker will be Rev. Randall, and the guest church will be Mount Orum Baptist Church. The church will also host its Churches United in Christ service at 11 a.m. March 26.

St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, 1120 Newcastle St., Brunswick, hosts its nondenominational crafters guild from 6-9 p.m. Tuesdays in the St. Joseph Room in the church parish hall. No fees. Everyone is welcome. All types of crafts and ideas area shared. The guild provides hats for preemies and cancer patients, along with leg warmers and lap rugs for nursing homes. Details: 265-6816.

St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, 1120 Newcastle St., Brunswick, will hold a fish fry, sponsored by its Knights of Columbus chapter from 5:30-7 p.m. in the parish hall every Friday through April 7. Cost is $8 per plate or $25 per family of four. The youth group will sell dessert. After dinner, Stations of the Cross will begin at 7 p.m. in the church.

St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church, 2700 Demere Road, St. Simons Island, will observe its annual Family and Friends Day at 4 p.m. March 26. The Rev. J.J. Thomas and Elm Grove Baptist Church will be the guests. Dinner will be served following the service.

Sterling Church of God, 6670 New Jesup Highway, Brunswick, will host a free clothing giveaway sponsored by its Helping Hands Ministry, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesdays.

Wesley United Methodist Church at Frederica, 6520 Frederica Road, St. Simons Island, will host a GriefShare grief recovery seminar and support group at 3-4:30 p.m. April 2.
