Gary Bernard Cook Jr. 36, passed away peacefully on May 13, 2017. He was a native of Brunswick, Ga. He graduated from Glynn Academy High School in 2000. He was currently enrolled at Coastal College of Georgia where he was pursuing his degree in psychology.
His passion for the arts grew early in life. He was member of the Jill Stanford Studio, on the Glynn Academy Debate Team and a member of the drama club. His greatest joy was spending time with his grandmothers, Annie Lee Turner McClam (who precedes him in death), and Willena Filer, and nieces and nephews.
Gary is survived by his mother, Debbie Gibson (Jerry) Eddin of Schertz, Texas; his father, Gary B. Cook Sr. of Brunswick, Ga.; grandmother, Willena Filer of Brunswick, Ga.; three sisters, TeSheba (Richard) Swift of LaGrange, Ga., Nancy C. Slay of Jacksonville, Fla., and Tashina (Vincent) Jackson of Brunswick, Ga; three brothers, Antonio T. Walker of Clarksville, Tenn., and Garret and Caleb Cook, both of Brunswick, Ga.; four aunts, Hester (Clifton) Bacon, Melvena (Andre) Murray, Valenthia Cook and Marnita Cameron, all of Brunswick, Ga.; seven uncles, Jimmie L. Pinkney, Terry Cook Sr., Ray A. Gibson, Darrin Filer and Jeffrey Turner, all of Brunswick, Ga., Wilton Cameron of Walterboro, S.C., and James (Selamawit) Filer of Philadelphia, Pa.; and host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
The memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 20, 2017, at Liberty Ship Park, under the Sidney Lanier Bridge.
The procession will leave from 2251 Pinewood Drive.
Private burial ceremony will be held at 11 a.m. Sunday, May 21, 2017, in Tarboro, Ga.
