Jean Dunne

Jean Minchew Waldrip Dunne, 76, of Brunswick, passed away unexpectedly Friday, Dec. 16, 2016, at Southeast Georgia Health System, surrounded by her loving family.

She was born Aug. 14, 1940, in Brunswick, Ga., to Jake and Wilma Edgy Minchew and attended Glynn Academy.

After being together for over four years, she married the love of her life, Mike Dunne, Sept. 17, 2016; five days later he lost his battle with cancer. She was self-employed with Avon for almost 30 years and was the No. 1 sales rep in Georgia for many years, known to many as the “Avon Queen.” She was also well known and loved for her homemade lemon pies! She was a favorite waitress at Captain Joe’s Seafood and Western Sizzlin Steak House. Jean was an active member of Coastal Baptist Church. She was loved by all who knew her for her nurturing and crazy personality!

Survivors include four children, Chris Loper (Cyndie) of Dover, Ark., Greg Loper (Sherry) of Panama City, Fla., John Waldrip (Vickie) and Bonnie Carter (Brian), all of Brunswick, Ga.; three brothers, Taft Minchew (Betty) of Wilmington, N.C., Carroll Minchew (Becky) and Edwin Minchew; and a cousin, Faye Box Hall, who was like a sister to her, all of Brunswick, Ga.; 15 grandchildren, Daniel Loper, Kristen Nordin (Kevin) of Dover, Ark., Jake Loper of Wilmington, N.C., John Loper of Raeford, N.C., Mark Loper of Panama City, Fla., Ashley Funderburk of Jasper, Ga., Brett Funderburk of Charleston, S.C., Justin Funderburk of Orangeburg, S.C., Miranda Waldrip of Charlotte, N.C., and Joy Waldrip, Cory Funderburk, Kayli Carter, Tony Hauck VI, Robbie Stone and Michael Stone, all of Brunswick, Ga.; eight great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Mike Dunne; her parents; and older brother, Herbert Minchew.

A memorial service celebrating her life will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 28, 2017, at Coastal Baptist Church, 114 Good Place Road, Brunswick, GA 31523, with Dr. Larry Lane, pastor, officiating.
