Nancy Jean (Horsch) Lightman passed away peacefully in her sleep Sunday, with her children by her side.
Born and raised in South Weymouth, MA, she lived her life to the fullest and taught her children compassion, respect, and grace. She had a smile that would light up any room everywhere she went. From jazz clubs in Boston, to luaus in Hawaii, to volksmarches in Bavaria, she lived an adventuresome life. A dedicated army wife of Retired Col. Donald R. Lightman, and mother for 26 years before moving to St Simons Island in 1991, she had seen a lot of beautiful places before picking our quiet little island to settle.
Nancy was preceded in death by her parents, Augustus and Nellie Horsch of South Weymouth, Mass.; her sister, Audrey Prouty of Warren, N.H.; and brother, Arthur Horsch of Virginia Beach, Va.
She is survived by her sisters, Judy Baxter and Virginia Roddick; her brothers, Robert Horsch and William Horsch; daughter, Michelle Lightman; son, Michael Lightman; and grandsons Riley Lightman and Noah Pulver.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Temple Beth Tefilloh Building Fund, Brunswick, Ga., or to TheProuty.org.
