My husband and I enjoy reading about our community in The Brunswick News every day. On June 14 at about 7 a.m. while perusing the paper, I was appalled to see the political cartoon by Mike Lester. It is the duty of newspapers to share opposing ideas, but this cartoon absolutely crosses the line to the side of hatred.

Shortly after that I turned the television on and was horrified to see the reports of the attempted assassinations of elected officials in Alexandria. Perhaps the editorial staff had second thoughts about publishing that cartoon, I hope? Perhaps Mike Lester should have written impeachment instead of “assassination” as one action is legal and the other immoral, evil and illegal.
