I fail to see how this proposed new ordinance can go too far as suggested by the editorial in Monday’s paper. There is no doubt in my mind that the Dart house would still be standing if this ordinance was in effect six months ago.

Many people, myself included, thought the property and house were saved from demolition, but this was not the case as we are all reminded every time we drive on U.S. Highway 17. Many thanks to the city manager, the city commission, and the city attorney for listening to the people and coming up with a reasonable and fair proposal for a new ordinance. I understand this will be discussed at the city commission meeting today. I would encourage all those who care about this issue to attend. Sometimes the best things come out of the worst tragedies.
