Russian mania is sweeping Washington and sadly too many so-called astute politicians are spending more time promoting this hoax rather than fixing America’s problems. It’s a sad day when there is clear evidence that our elected representatives have forsaken honor and virtue to pursue selfish interests.

The liberal hysteria bureaucrats are promoting will never be taken seriously by the majority of voters but will waste valuable time that could have been spent on health care, opioid abuse and immigration. While the opioid addiction plague is growing, Oregon is considering eliminating criminal penalties for possession of small amounts of heroin, cocaine and methamphetamine. For many, legalization of anything by state and federal authorities fosters a naiveté — if the law allows it then it’s OK. This legalistic concept of morality has crept into Washington and few see the fatalistic consequences down the road.

St. Louis de Montfort (1673-1716) a French Roman Catholic priest stated “..take care not to follow the majority and the common herd, so many of whom are lost.” In today’s world, this is sound advice but pitifully, honor and faithfulness to duty in public office is not in the playbook of Washington folks.

They want to do it their way without proper reflection of the consequences because they have a twisted belief it takes away their freedom of choice. Good people can only hope America can be raised from this quagmire and the country can start moving in a more positive direction.
