In response to Patrick Buchanan’s, “The coming clash with Iran,” I agree with him. Do we learn nothing from our past history?

I am 90 years old. The men in my family collectively served in World War II, Korea and Vietnam. Of course we could not let the cruel dictators in Germany and Japan succeed. Since then, our military has been in Iraq — we were lied into that one — and Afghanistan on the hunt for Osama bin Laden, a Saudi, our so-called ally.

I voted for Barack Obama twice. I advised him not to get us involved in the Middle East. I wrote him a stern letter in September 2013 warning him against getting involved in Syria.

Read the Old Testament. Read T.E. Lawrence’s “Seven Pillars of Wisdom.” They have been fighting each other for centuries. It’s a family fight. We don’t need to be involved.

The next big war will be fought with nuclear weapons. Do we really want to risk that?
