All-region honors continue to roll in for local GHSA players. Nine Brunswick and Glynn Academy players were named to the 2017 all-region first team, second team or honorable mention.

In addition, Brunswick’s Chris Turner was named Coach of the Year and Glynn Academy’s Durand Green was dubbed Player of the Year.

Two Pirates and one Red Terror made the All-Region First Team. Pirates seniors Dereck Lampkin and Kymani Dunham represented the state runners up and the Red Terror’s first-year transfer student, junior Syron Noyes, also slotted in as a first-teamer.

On the second team, junior guards Marcus Scott and Daquan Humphreys represented the Pirates and senior guard Santana Young represented the Red Terrors.

Jaylen Jackson rounded out the Pirates’ starting five as an honorable mention, and Dominique Walker and Quandre Mosely completed the Terrors’ starting lineup.

The Pirates finished the season 23-9, falling to Langsten Hughes in the 6A state championship game 73-52.

Glynn Academy (16-13) knocked off No. 1 seed Stephenson High in the first round before losing to South Cobb in a double-overtime game in the second round.
