Brunswick High lineman D’Antne Demery will attend Hutchinson Community College after losing his scholarship to Georgia.

The News/File

Former Brunswick High School football standout D’Antne Demery is currently taking classes at Hutchinson Community College in Kansas, and plans to join the football team this season according to Hutchinson head football coach Rion Rhoades.

Demery, a class of 2017 graduate from Brunswick High, was previously a University of Georgia prospect. The program released him after he was charged with simple battery disorderly conduct and criminal trespass the night after UGA’s spring football game in Athens. The alleged incident occurred between Demery and the mother of his then 1-month-old child.

Hutchinson Community College, a member of the National Junior College Athletics Association, has historically established success of placing players into Division I schools.

Former University of Tennessee running back Alvin Kamara, a recent success story, played his freshman season at Hutchinson before transferring to Tennessee one year later.

Kamara was drafted by the New Orleans Saints this season.

Demery entered a plea of not guilty to all three charges according to a June 8 report from Athens Banner Herald.
