The Frederica Academy baseball team dropped a tough road game at Charlton County on Thursday. A 7-run fourth inning from Charlton did in the Knights in Folkston as Frederica fell 14-5.

Frederica scored the first run of the game in the top of the third to grab an early 1-0 lead. Charlton answered with three runs in the bottom half of the inning. The Indians added seven runs in the fourth to break away from the Knights.

The Knights would answer with four runs in the top half of the fifth inning to make it a 10-5 game, but Charlton added two more runs in the fifth and sixth innings each to pull away for good. Nic Dixon led Frederica at the plate with with two hits, including a double, and two RBIs. Chappy Rowland also had two hits for the Knights, and Eric McCall added a two-run home run.

The Knights are back on the field at 6 p.m. today against Citizens Christian. Frederica will celebrate Senior Night at the game.

BIG FRIDAY

There will be a lot of area teams in action today across the Golden Isles.

The Glynn Academy boys and girls tennis teams will play second-round Class 6A playoff matches at the school. The Glynn boys will face Dalton at 11 a.m.. The Red Terrors swept Mt. Zion-Jonesboro 5-0 in the first round on Tuesday. Dalton, the No. 3 seed out of Region 6, swept Winder-Barrow in the first round.

The Lady Terrors, who like the GA boys are the No. 1 seed out of Region 2, will face River Ridge starting at noon. The Glynn girls swept Mundy’s Mill 5-0 on Tuesday in the first round while River Ridge, the No. 3 seed out of Region 6, defeated Winder-Barrow 3-1.

The Brunswick High baseball team will close out its region schedule at home today against Effingham County. First pitch is slated for 6 p.m. at the school.

On the pitch, the Glynn Academy girls will host perennial power Memorial Catholic out of Wisconsin at 5 p.m. today at Glynn County Stadium with the boys team facing Islands High at 7 p.m.

The Glynn baseball team will be on the road at Statesboro.
