Coaches have voted on all-region teams for the 2017 spring sports seasons, and the Golden Isles had several player recognized for their achievements on the courts and on the pitch.
Glynn Academy girls tennis swept all six spots on the All-Region 2-6A first team. Sarah Murray, who held the 1st team at No. 1 sigles, was named Region 2 Girls Player of the Year, as was Glynn Academy boys No. 1 player Cole Paschal.
Emma Hidalgo and Leanna Wood were first team at No. 2 and No. 3 singles, respectively, and doubles pairs Eliana Paga with Ansley Moody and Curry Hartman with Yanin Reinholz were all-region at No. 1 and No. 2 doubles.
After Paschal at No. 1 singles, the boys team won three out of the last four all region slots. Stephen Thompson was the region’s court No. 3 first teamer, Sheldon Barber with Benjamin McKenzie won on doubles No. 1 and Danny Moore with Joseph Sousa won on doubles No. 2.
In boys an girls soccer, 14 players from Brunswick and Glynn Academy combined were award all region honors.
Glynn Academy’s Nico Bulatao was named co-Region Player of the Year.
For Brunswick Adiah Bailey, Anja Bailey and Carri Sturm represented the Lady Pirates and Gillermo Ramirez and Patric Caceres represented the boys squad. Alex Houser, Kara Kelsch, Lizzy Bonds, Mady Carroll and Haley Williams represented the Lady Terrors and Sam Ghioto, Bulatao, John Henry Butler and Clay Watkins represented to boys team.
